Perm-aholic

Brooke was involved in a state competition for hair styling last week. She had to demonstrate the proper way to do a perm in front of a bunch of people. Afterwards she didn't think she had done very well, but when she looked online to see the standings, she had taken 1st place! Woohoo!

That means that she gets some tuition waivers or reimbursements or something awesome like that, so hopefully we won't be paying for tuition in the fall or spring. I can live with that.

One of my mission companions flew up from Arizona this last weekend to go to the Jazz vs. Suns game with me. My father-in-law knew someone that had season tickets but couldn't go to the game, so we got to sit on the first row of the upper bowl. I know that may not be "close enough" for some of you rich people out there, but it was dang close to me!

I feel kind of bad for my buddy since the Jazz won the game, which all but assured Phoenix of missing the playoffs, but oh well. Go UTAH!!!

That's all for now....

Holy cow, I wasn't kidding!!!

So, you will notice that back in October 2007 I said we wouldn't post much. Well, I was right! So here I am attempting to jump-start this blog. I have some downtime at work every so often, so I will attempt to use it for purposes of keeping anyone who cares up-to-date on the goings on in the Ertel family (instead of just watching soccer highlights on youtube).

For those of you who don't know, we have a kid! I know, crazy. Whoever thought that I would produce offspring?! His name is William (Will) Randal Ertel and he will be 19 months old next week. He was born on Sept. 4, 2007 (his mom's b-day) at 8 lbs. 11 oz. He is a fun little kid and we love him to death. He loves toy cars, Pixar movies, his blue blanket, and running. Especially running! I don't think this kid moves unless he's running, which makes church an adventure just about every week.

Brooke is currently going to SLCC for Cosmetology. We're hoping she will be done by the end of the Fall semester, but may need to do just a few hours in the Spring. She is getting very good at cutting hair, which I can attest to from personal experience. So any ladies that stumble on to this blog, don't be bashful! Give her a call.

I have been working for an investments firm since August 2007. I am currently in the Electronic Response group, which means that I just answer emails and instant messages all day. I love my job! I technically can't say the name of the firm on this blog, because then I have to report it to my Compliance department, which is a huge hassle. But anyone who knows me knows where I work, so that's good enough.

So what can I say about our life?

We live in Taylorsville right now in Brooke's parents' ward. We live in a downstairs basement which is more like a fox hole than an apartment, but we're dealing with it. If the stars align, the L.A. Clippers win the NBA Finals, Elton John goes straight and Calista Flockhart wins an eating contest, we will be in our own house someday. Jk

I will post some pictures of our family on here soon. I hope everyone out there is doing well!
